Fayrouz is the Arabic word for turquoise. This is the deeper end of it, a jewel tone with more green than blue in daylight, named after the stone rather than the bright turquoise most people picture.
A coloured abaya feels like a bigger decision than it is. Teal this deep behaves like a neutral. It is dark enough for a weekday and sits quietly beside black, but it is not black, which is the whole point of owning one.

The fabric
Lightweight linen with lycra running through it. Linen breathes, which matters most in a full-length piece where there is a lot of fabric against you. The stretch keeps the skirt moving cleanly as you walk instead of catching and creasing at the knee.
Colour also holds better on a matte surface. Next to a synthetic in the same shade this reads deeper and less flat, particularly in daylight.
Fit and modesty
Cut straight and full through the body, with wide sleeves and room at the hip and the arm. It skims rather than clings.
Full length and full coverage, with a clean neckline and a plain cuff, nothing to catch or keep adjusting.
When to wear it
Work, errands, the school run, travelling and meeting friends, and comfortable enough to keep on at home.
The colour carries it further than a plain everyday abaya would. With silver jewellery it is ready for a family dinner without changing.

Under the matching Fayrouz jacket for a tonal look, one colour from shoulder to hem. On its own, cream, sand and camel hijabs are the easiest and keep it soft. Black sharpens it, and white lifts it for daytime. Avoid matching the hijab to the teal exactly, a shade apart always looks better than a near miss. Silver jewellery suits this colour more than gold. Tan or black flats for the day, something with a heel and silver at the ear for the evening.

Love the generous fit but want more shape? Use the belt or tie at your natural waist, just under the bust for an empire line, or at the hips for a dropped-waist look.

Between heights? If you are between two heights, for example 5'5", you can choose either the 54" or 56" length depending on how much coverage you prefer.
While all our garments feature a 44" chest and 21 inch sleeve length, it helps to know your measurements for styling decisions:
- Bust: measure around the fullest part. Under 44" gives you lovely draping room
- Waist: measure your natural waist to know where to position belts and ties
- Height: measure from floor to top of head to select your perfect length

Will the generous fit change after washing?
Our Modal and Jersey fabrics hold their shape and generous sizing when washed according to care instructions. Silk pieces should be dry cleaned to preserve the drape and fit.
