Bahr is Arabic for sea. A soft, dusty blue with grey in it, closer to worn denim than to navy.
An open jacket in a colour this easy does more work than a statement piece ever will. It goes over the matching abaya for a tonal look, over black, over cream, over jeans and a long top, and it never argues with any of them.

The fabric
Lightweight linen with lycra running through it. The linen texture is visible in the weave, which is what stops a mid blue looking flat, and the stretch is what keeps it from creasing along the front panels where everyone can see.
There is enough weight in it to hold the flare properly. A thinner fabric would collapse at the hem instead of moving with you.
Fit and modesty
Full length and open at the front, relaxed through the body and shoulder so nothing pulls. Wide bell sleeves with plenty of room through the arm.
The self-tie belt adjusts the shape. Left loose, the jacket falls open in a long line. Tied, it marks the waist and lets the skirt flare out below without tightening the fit across the chest or hip.
When to wear it
Work, errands, travelling, meeting friends and family gatherings. Light enough to keep on indoors, and it layers under a coat once the weather turns.
Tied at the waist with a heel and silver jewellery it carries straight into an evening invitation.
Wear it as a set, or on its own
The matching Bahr Linen Lycra Abaya is a separate product. Worn together the two read as one considered co-ord, tonal from shoulder to hem, and apart each works with the rest of your wardrobe.
The linen lycra collection comes in six colourways, so you can match a jacket and abaya in one tone or put two together.

Over the matching Bahr abaya for a tonal look, one colour from shoulder to hem. That is how it is photographed, with a cream hijab and cream heels. On anything else, black underneath gives the most contrast, cream and camel keep it soft, and denim underneath works better with this blue than you would expect. Silver jewellery suits it more than gold. Nude or cream shoes lengthen the line, black shoes make it sharper. Tie the belt to define the waist and let the skirt flare below it. Leave it loose when you want the long open line.

Love the generous fit but want more shape? Use the belt or tie at your natural waist, just under the bust for an empire line, or at the hips for a dropped-waist look.

Measure your height accurately: stand against a wall without shoes and measure from the floor to the top of your head.
Between heights? If you are between two heights, for example 5'5", you can choose either the 54" or 56" length depending on how much coverage you prefer.
While all our garments feature a 44" chest and 21 inch sleeve length, it helps to know your measurements for styling decisions:
- Bust: measure around the fullest part. Under 44" gives you lovely draping room
- Waist: measure your natural waist to know where to position belts and ties
- Height: measure from floor to top of head to select your perfect length

Will the generous fit change after washing?
Our Modal and Jersey fabrics hold their shape and generous sizing when washed according to care instructions. Silk pieces should be dry cleaned to preserve the drape and fit.
