Anar is Arabic for pomegranate. A deep red with brown in it rather than blue, so it stays warm against the skin and reads well in daylight as well as evening.
Worn over the matching Anar abaya it reads as one piece, tonal from shoulder to hem. Worn open over black, cream or denim it works just as well on its own, which is why the two are sold separately.

The fabric
Lightweight linen blended with lycra. Linen on its own creases the moment you sit down, and the stretch is what stops it. You keep the dry, matte finish linen is wanted for, and it holds its shape from morning through to evening.
It packs flat and comes out of a case without needing an iron, which is why it travels well.
When to wear it
Errands, work, the school run, travelling and meeting friends. Light enough to keep on indoors, and it layers under a coat once the weather turns.
With the belt tied and gold jewellery it holds up at a family dinner or an evening invitation.
Wear it as a set, or on its own
The matching Anar Linen Lycra Abaya is a separate product. Worn together the two read as a considered co-ord, and apart each works with the rest of your wardrobe.
The linen lycra collection comes in six colourways, so you can match a jacket and abaya in one tone or put two together.
Over the matching Anar abaya for a tonal look, one colour from shoulder to hem. Black underneath gives the sharpest contrast. Cream and camel are softer and more daytime. A cream, blush or camel hijab sits well with the pomegranate, black sharpens it, and gold jewellery takes the whole thing into the evening. Over jeans and a long top it works as an everyday layer rather than occasionwear.

Love the generous fit but want more shape? Use the belt or tie at your natural waist, just under the bust for an empire line, or at the hips for a dropped-waist look.

Measure your height accurately: stand against a wall without shoes and measure from the floor to the top of your head.
Between heights? If you are between two heights, for example 5'5", you can choose either the 54" or 56" length depending on how much coverage you prefer.
While all our garments feature a 44" chest and 21 inch sleeve length, it helps to know your measurements for styling decisions:
- Bust: measure around the fullest part. Under 44" gives you lovely draping room
- Waist: measure your natural waist to know where to position belts and ties
- Height: measure from floor to top of head to select your perfect length

Will the generous fit change after washing?
Our Modal and Jersey fabrics hold their shape and generous sizing when washed according to care instructions. Silk pieces should be dry cleaned to preserve the drape and fit.
